I think if you ignore warnings and take your life in your hands you get what you get. I absolutely agree that the old coot overreacted. HOWEVER, he really had every right to.

He clearly warned people: stay away. Do not come on my property. Not with a little sign he could use as a technicality, multiple signs, at all entrances to the property.

While I too hate people that come to your door trying to sell you stuff and agree that the guy did trespass when it was posted to stay out, to me that is not a death penalty kind of crime. Did the steak guy lunge at him? Did he threaten him? What went down before he shot him? It sure doesn't sound like it. He wasn't even wearing a hoodie and carrying skittles. If somehow there was a fight I could understand why he shot him, but just to find someone on your property after you have posted no trespassing shouldn't give you the right to kill them.

As far as the crazy old coot was concerned, ignoring multiple, obvious NO TRESPASSING signs was an aggressive act, and in his mind he acted appropriately.

The bottom line here is that while tragic and an obvious over reaction by an unbalanced person, the victim has absolutely no argument: had he not trespassed, ignoring multiple warning's, he'd be alive today and shilling his meat on another block.

I don't disagree that had he just passed this house on by he would still be alive today. Hell, it sounds like had he been at this house just a few minutes early and had been gone by the time the old guy got home he would be alive.

Still, it sounds like the guy was not aggressive and the home owner simply executing him for being on his land. That is unacceptable in my eyes.
