Why Do Most New Adult Sites Fail?

I've been thinking about this lately.

Every year, new adult websites launch, but most disappear within a short time. Is it because of lack of traffic, bad marketing, poor user experience, or simply too much competition?

I'm working on Kamerndolo.com and trying to understand what separates the sites that survive from the ones that fail.

What do you think is the biggest mistake new adult webmasters make today?

It's no different than any other business, really. People are lazy in general, at least compared to me. They think this gonna be easy.... then they discover that getting traffic takes either A) Real Work and real time, or B) Some money to buy traffic, and even if you buy it when you don't know what you're doing it's gonna hurt.

And then the lazy part kicks in, or the lack of desire to finish something once it's started.

I am stunned that your first go-to is blame things that have nothing to do with a website failing - sadly new webmasters read crap like this and copy it in their speech giving a false excuse in place of actual thought - so lets see

• Choosing the wrong niche? WTF you can make money from any niche the question is how much. Certain niches only have a limited following so pick a niche you're knowledgeable on and interested in and do it. If you're just wanting to make money then find a good source for content and ride with it
• Depending too much on SEO? the dumbest thing i heard - without it your website has a more difficult time been seen by users. I've seen many times by doing proper SEO a website's traffic and sales increase rapidly - so before judging anything - honestly think about it
• Not building a real community? you'll need to be more specific since many sites out there don't have a community and are reliant on blogs and backlinks
• Poor monetization strategy? a poor business plan which encompasses areas like advertising, affiliates, subscriptions etc. will lead to failure if that is what you're meaning. I've seen million dollar backers fail because no one had any creative ideas nor anything that sets you apart from anyone else - so it's not money it's creativity.

There are a lot of abusers on the internet who can ruin your new site with real or fake abuse reports. Now it’s easy to take down any site that works with user-generated (amateur) content just by spamming the hosting or domain registrar with takedown requests.

Most sites fail because the Internet is a shit show and it's about giant corporations profiting from your hard work. When you're doing business on the Internet you better learn that you're just a feudal slave and the rich big shots are the only ones allowed to earn a living wage from your hard work.

Most new sites launch without a distribution plan and without a weekly operating rhythm. The site gets built once, but traffic, content, conversion and retention need work every week. I would start with one clear niche, one traffic source and one offer, measure it, then expand.

Most websites fail because they aren’t good enough. They’re just inferior copies of existing sites. For example, someone sees ThePornDude and thinks that if they create a similar site, they’ll make similar money.

And the second thing is that people are lazy and impatient. If they don’t get traffic quickly, they give up. They don’t want to keep working on their site. Building a site is easy. Getting traffic is hard.

When you start a new site, ask yourself, “Why should people visit my site? How is it better or different from the competition?” And if you don’t know the answer, don’t create the site.

And then keep in mind that the competition is getting tougher all the time. So you’ll have to constantly improve your site, keep adding new content, and strive to be better than similar sites.
