I used to have an account with them way back when (like maybe 2002?), so I should be able to get in on this, but hell if I remember the e-mail address or password on my account. So I guess I cant complete the "registration". What a scam.

I hear ya. It's encouraging, though, to see both Netflix get an easy out and the upset customers get something they still seem to value. If it were EXXON settling one of its ecological fiascos with barrels of oil, it would be different.
