I agree American Idol is a lame show, but you'd eather the youth be purely influenced by MTV musically?

Ironically, American Idol is the only mainstream outlet exposing this generation to music from great past artists (from when music was real).

Otherwise, these kids would never even know these past artists even EXIST.
