Agree with Chillin the Most on this.

When you first come here or have no clue of the rest of Costa Rica, it's prob wiser to stick around Escazu or Santa Ana. The country is kinda varied and differing temperatures and it's worth getting to know it more before doing anything "permanent". (If you want a temperature for working in - anywhere in Central Valley is OK ie near San Jose, but not in it!!)

If you prefer a beach area - best is the Pacific coastline.

If you want to do some research and look thru the classified ads for clues on homes/rentals and other stuff - it may be worth a subscription to the Tico Times (the local English language newspaper - they deliver worldwide) - http://www.ticotimes.net

Here's the blurb from an ISP for the Escazu/Santa Ana area (AmNet)...

RESIDENTIAL
One Ip Public and Dynamic
2 Way Tariffs
1/2 Mbps /128 Kbps $34.95
1 Mbps / 256 Kbps $49.95
2 Mbps / 256 Kbps $69.95

PYMES
One Ip Public and Dynamic
2 Way Tariffs
1/2 Mbps /128 Kbps $49.95
1 Mbps / 256 Kbps $79.95
2 Mbps / 256 Kbps $99.95

PYMES PLUS
One Ip Public Static
2 Way Tariffs
1/2 Mbps / 1/2 Mbps $99.95
1 Mbps / 1 Mbps $249.95

Those prices are not that bad I suppose. I still cant find any ISP info for Quepos.
