It all depends on when they pull the report. I put up to $5K a month on my credit cards (used to be a 3 times that in the good old days
) and pay them in full every month. But many times I've pulled my report and seen high balances on my cards, when in reality, they could pull the report a few days later and see zero balances on all the same cards.
