The problem is that unless he gets stupid he's only going to get caught accidentally.. Since there's no links between the victims, you have to hope that someone stumbles upon him setting up or coming back from his blind with rifle in hand, and then gets away to tell someone about it.

Is there really any other way to catch a random sniper? I can't think of one. So I'd say you're right, this guys got at LEAST another 2 weeks.
