my girlfriend's ex don't pay shit, he doesn't have a job just because of this, he works under the table if ever, but you know fuck the money that is not what we want or expect from him, we expect him to be a father to his kid.
I have a daughter with another girl, and I see my kid alot, always buy her everything she needs and try my best to ship money to the mother whenever she needs something for my daughter, but nothing bugs me more than when I know its not going for my daughter. example. she says Jada needs clothes... so we go and buy her clothes and mail it to her, and my ex gets pissed off that I done that.. "curious to wonder why". than she tells me about all her money issues, car fines, her school etc. like I fucking care about that, I got my own problems to deal with. we are pretty good at dealing with this without the court and custody shit, but there are surely days where we are telling each other to fuck off.
and you know what... I would take my daughter full time in a heartbeat and not expect a penny for having her... I would send my daughter all the money possible if I knew every penny was being used for her.. when she is with me she gets spoiled.
