I don't have kids, but if I did, I would probably invest in SurfControl or one of the tools that filters and logs Internet, email and chat activity right at the connection point (prior to the router)... kids are getting increasingly sophisticated at being able to delete info from their cache and history, and even if I trusted my own kids, the stories I've heard from our models make it clear that friends come over and introduce stuff (ways of getting around filters, etc) that make it a challenge for all but the most tech-savvy parents to keep up.

I also have to say I was really disappointed with NetNanny. When we updated a couple of our sites, we decided to go through and make sure we were in the databases of all the major child protection filters. All of the others had our sites properly listed on their block list, but NetNanny didn't. I tried to fill out the form to add us, but the form was broken. I emailed support to describe the problem, and got formletters back from somebody in their Bombay email response center that offered no information on how to get our sites added.

Finally, I sent an email to somebody in their public relations department letting them know I would be contacting the 700 club and a couple of other major media outlets, describing how our porn company couldn't get them to update their filters. Miraculously, somebody called me the same day, apologizing for their Bombay response center's answers, and promising that everything would be fixed.

Pretty pathetic when the industry *tries* to be self-policing and those who are supposed to care can't be bothered.
