Dancing - that strange ritual. Like most sociological questions, I would think there are many reasons rather than just one. People like to dance to meet people, express oneself, be a part of something, to feel good (exercise), or to show off their dancing skills or their body. Some people must also experience something they would call "spiritual" while dancing. At least, my father's hippy friends at Grateful Dead shows a few years ago seem like they did.
It seems to me, from being at clubs, that as many men like to dance as women. I haven't seen the male/female ratio at a line dance. Maybe someone could report.
Another interesting question, why do some people experience embarassment and feel uncomfortable when they dance?

I get a bit uncomfortable when I dance (seriously) for kelly. It's alot easier to dance when intoxicated
I dunno how to explane it..i guuess i get scared thinking " what incase he doesn't like it"
I mean i know he will but i always think it. When i'm drunk helll who gives a shit

When intoxicated you're not really giving a crap what other ppl think of you. It's your time to make an ass of yourself
