If you want to learn verbs and tenses just buy a book and study them. If you want to learn how to speak the only way is to completely immerse yourself, that's how I learned. So if you're going to south america, study before you go and when you get there just jump in, practice what you know, talk talk talk, and you will learn by leaps and bounds each day
