Congratulations to Webby for chanting incessantly that the sky is falling and America is causing it. That honestly wins the prize for being the most arrogant and gutless thing I've ever heard. The full truth of my conclusion I shall develop in the course of this letter, but the conclusion's general outline is that his smears are a load of bunk. I use this delightfully pejorative term, "bunk" -- an alternative from the same page of my criminal-slang lexicon would serve just as well -- because by refusing to act, by refusing to get my message about Webby out to the world, we are giving Webby the power to make me the target of a constant, consistent, systematic, sustained campaign of attacks. I, hardheaded cynic that I am, have traveled the length and breadth of this country and talked with the best people. I can therefore assure you that the biggest difference between me and Webby is that Webby wants to subordinate all spheres of society to an ideological vision of organic community. I, on the other hand, want to protect the interests of the general public against the greed and unreason of what I call apolaustic nobodies.
