All boarder guards from all countries can be dicks, and sometimes that is their job. What's with the US bashing? Some kind of knee-jerk response? I've heard and seen nightmares crossing borders all over the world.
You don't have to spend all that energy and focus hating the US all the time, do you? It must get tiring after a while.
