If you wanna learn how to solder and crawl around in your attic/crawlspace, then you can fix it for $100-$200 in parts... a Plumber here in L.A. would charge around $75 an hour plus parts... 4-8 hours depending on accessablility to the plumbing.

A hammer arrestor basically gets put at the highest point of the copper lines, pointing vertical... more of a pain in the butt than anything, about 30 minutes per arrestor to install...

if those don't fix it right away, you'll want to hunt down any loose or unsecured pipes, this is what can take the longest...

soldering copper pipe is only vaguely similar to soldering wires or circuits, so don't just go gungho heating it up... hmmm just call a plumber... it'll cost you but at least it will be done properly.
