It's unfortunate that AMG is weaning away from the precise factor that made them popular.Massive torque.They need the 7sp now because these new engines don't generate max power until 4500rpm.I just got that E55amg a few weeks ago,and 515lbs of torque at 2650 rpms will get your attention.

Other than that,it seems like overkill for an SUV.I drive an ML350 for the winter and that is plenty fast for what it was designed to do.
