But, if you were more referring to his salary, then you'd be wrong. His salary in 2005 was $600,000, and he received $400,000 in bonuses and $2,469 in other compensation. So total, INCLUDING bonuses and "other compensation," his salary was just barely over a million dollars.

To add to Shoehorn!'s post, Bill Gates is also in a commodity that doesn't directly relate to a nation's infrastructure. Yes, it'd take time and tons of money teaching people to use Linux and Open Office, for example. But the investment in using an alternative to oil / gas is completely insane. Thus the reason you don't see countries going to war over software.
