i like the European idea of
"peace at any cost"
certainly a strategy that has played out well over the last century.
just wait until you are invaded/attacked/occupied until you decide that maybe something should be done.
you cannot be the most popular without being the most hated. that is a simple fact of life. you cannot make EFFECTIVE decisions that make EVERYONE happy. that is another fact.
personally, i think that most bullies tend to mellow out after they get their ass kicked... not when you give in to them. feeding the sharks (trying to appease terrorists) to keep them from eating you (attacking again) is a short term strategy.
