They're not red. Just kind of dry, I guess. Not like, flaking or anything, though.

Ice really helped, actually. I've been avoiding using soap actually, because I've nursed three babies to six months or older, and I recall that using soap and water can actually dry up the oils in your nipple skin. Generally people don't drag their nips in the mud, so just the soap that washes down your body when you wash your hair and upper body is sufficient to clean them without drying them. My mom is a Mom-Baby nurse in Tampa, so she's gonna bring me home some Lansinoh (sp?) to see if that helps.
