Actually I have not but, from all the softs I have tested, AVS has proved itself to be the most reliable and versitile one.
On encoding from the vob file; it would mean you avoid any quality loss on the way. Generally though, like someone said, I would not use divx/xvid (f.ex) for my clients. Go with any mpeg or wmv.
