I certainly don't want webmasters conditioned to believe a DVD title is only worth X when I'm selling licenses for nearly $300 ... and I've worked hard to build solid relationships with my clients that see the value in buying titles from me at my prices.

When customers come to me and say "can you match XYZ's companies prices?" - the answer is "sorry, no ... i can't" ... a lot of content is apples and oranges. If you can legitimately show that to a buyer and they're NOT just buying on price then obviously they will buy based on perceived value.

I do what I can differentiate my offers from other similar companies in the marketplace ... that's all we can do and it seems to work.

In the case of feeds, specifically - bandwidth prices are at an all-time low ... webmasters know that and leverage that knowledge and have been asking for lower pricing forever - that being said, it's difficult not to compete on price. It's a volume game at this point. If your content is used more there's still enough profit at a lower price point. The "catch all" is to get webmasters to give you a higher profile so they use more bandwidth. If you offer quality content then members will naturally gravitate towards it and

A) webmasters have a shot at better retention
B) feed providers have an chance to make more money
C) the world is a happy place

LOL

Again, Dave - respectfully ... sorry for the thread jack ... I'm stepping out and CONGRATZ ON YOUR GREAT OFFER!!!

well said J$
