That quad thingie won't do you a lot of good. That's just something to get more out of the house and be in nature.
It's like sitting on a lawnmower and thinking you will lose a lot of weight.

You need something more active where you have to move a lot and get all sweaty. This atv thing is like thinking you will get in shape by playing golf or bowling or shooting pool.

Think basketball, tennis, swimming, boxing, soccer. Something that requires you to be in motion all of the time. Sports won't do you any good if you don't sweat or need to catch your breath. If you run around for 3 hours chasing your kid that will also do the trick. Riding that atv could make your tired after a while because it's not easy to handle but you won't burn the same amount of calories like when you would punch on a boxing bag for 30 minutes.
If I were you I would get me a boxing bag, basketball hoop, soccer ball because you don't need to leave the house to do this. Hit the bag for 30 minutes a day, play some basketball for 40 minutes and some soccer for 30 minutes. Make sure you run around a lot while doing this, if you don't add 15 minutes of running to your program. Keep doing this every single day and in about 2 or 3 months you will see some good results. Put your wife on the atv so she can coach you while you are taking your daily run.
