These people are trying to survive and are twixt a rock and a hard place. When I was 15 years old I did a school report on the farmworkers union. My report was so thorough that newspapers around the country and even the government gave me kudos. I got my first job in newspapers at 19 due in large part to that report. Totally freaked out my parents. One of my aunts is Latino and told me all about what it was like growing up. She was born here and now her kids and grandkids are all top professionals in their fields. Hard work and strong family values did that.

So for me I say we should grant the amnesty because by default we in the U.S. are criminals because of our neglect not to enforce the existing laws we had already. Then we should invade Mexico and take over the country and make it an honest and fair country while cleaning up our own shit. We can invade Iraq and Afghanistan and other countries spreading 'democracy' while deposing dictators we propped up in the first place.

I have only met three Mexicans I couldn't stand. Just three and two are women whom nobody else can stand either. They wouldn't be liked no matter what their ethnicity. The other was a drunk who tried to manhandle the daughter of one of President Nixon's staff. I was bodyguarding her on her way back from church one night. Cops didn't do jack. I had to straighten the guy out. I had to do the cop's job!

Freakin' shame but it taught me right then and there what the problem was with the immigration situation. Cops and courts looking the other way and being negligent. Now they wanna drop the hammer on people who are trying to survive? I'll bet if they were Europeans it wouldn't be so much of an uproar.

Hypocritical bullshit.

I hope the protest just goes smoothly and no one gets hurt. Maybe it'll be a wake up call to the American people that not only couldn't those in power protect us from foreign compromises to our security but those in power as well as we Americans are just as guilty of criminal negligence as those we accuse.
I honestly can't see how you can say the U.S. government are criminals for not patroling their borders enough to prevent people from crossing it. If that was the case, then the U.S. government is liable for every crime in the U.S. because the police were not around to prevent it.
