Well, Katrina wouldn't have been bad if the city of New Orleans was prepared for it. The hurricane itself was not too bad - sure structural damage like any other hurricane that blows through a major city... but the levees failing - that made Katrina historically 100x worse. Multiply that by another 10x because of FEMA's screwups. Multiply that by another 50x because of lack of leadership at both the local, state, and federal government level. Multiply that by another 10x because of media being slow as hell to report what was really happening in the Big Easy. All these mistakes made this 500000x times worse than it should have been.
