Second Arrest Made In Connection To Ferrari Crash
(AP) LOS ANGELES There has been a second arrest in connection to the crash of a rare Ferrari in Malibu two months ago. A sheriff's spokesman says a former associate of the Swedish businessman accused of crashing the million-dollar Enzo Ferrari was arrested Wednesday for posing as a police officer to buy a gun.
Authorities say Carl Johan Freer showed a badge to indicate he was a deputy commissioner of the San Gabriel Valley Transit Authority. As a sworn officer he would be allowed to buy a .44-caliber handgun without the required background checks.
Freer was booked for investigation of perjury, a felony, and released on $20,000 bail. He's scheduled to appear in court Friday.
Freer's attorney denied any wrongdoing.
