There is no such thing as "removing" a tax. Lost revenues will be made up for elsewhere. For instance, the budget cuts in federal money going to the states may look good on paper but my city responded by increasing everyone's property tax. In my case the assessed value of my property
doubled what it was on the previous year's tax bill.
