100% serious. No street names or numbers here, so everything is in relation to some landmark. The kicker is, they'll often use landmarks that aren't there anymore, that only locals could possibly know about.

For instance, one of my friends lives:

100 meters west, 100 meters south of the "old tree" in Sabana South. The only thing is that tree hasn't been there for 8 years or more.
