The capture sizes for HDV are roughly the same as DV due to the compression method changing from DV to MPEG-2 and the fact that when you go to tape, you automatically incur a 4:2:2 compression rate. If you record using a tapeless acquisition method (Edirol, Firestore, etc.), the sizes go through the roof. But unless you're going to celluloid, it's kind of a waste.
