I lived in Dunedin for about 8 years.
Cold but nice sums it up.
but we are talking New Jersey cold rather than Toronto cold.
Wellington is a dump BTW - CTB has it dead on.
Peaches - if you want a place that is REALLY out of the way think about the West Coast of the South Island - around Hokitika for instance. Its one of the wettest places on the planet, but is stunning and they dont come much more isolated.
