That's why I only buy WD's. In a computer a few back before I started building my own, this new company I switched to because my old computer guy moved installed one of those FUJI drives. It failed or went currupt w/i 2 weeks.
When I took it back in (since it was under warranty) I had them yank it, and install a WD instead. Never had another problem with that computer or HD until I replaced it a year or so later.
I've never had a problem with WD's in 10 years. But that's just my experience. However, I also back up everything on firewire, or ext. HD's just to be careful.
Sorry to hear about the FUJI grief. I feel your pain.
