We have sat back as these mega-mergers have taken place. Now there are basically 4 oil companies controlling the gas prices for our country. When was the last time you saw a small mom and pop gas station?

It's price fixing, plain and simple, and that is what is illegal. Don't you ever wonder why gas prices on the same street all go up, at the same time, when they are supposedly different companies.

The latest reason we are being fed about the prices, is that there is a shortage of ethenol (not sure on the spelling). Now this is made from CORN. We are one of the largest, if not the largest producer of corn in the world. These fucks are actually importing it from other countries.

Good lord, how I long for the days when conservatives were so worried about whether Clinton got a bj or not. Simpler times.
Mom and Pop gas stations still exist all over. But they get thier gas from the same "big four" as part of a francise agreement, so its the same thing.

The last thing I heard as the latest "excuse" was that the president of Iran said that oil was undervalued, so they raised the prices. Now, this is no coincidence that as Bush wets his dirty little tounge and salaviates at the thought of bombing Iran, that he choose to make this statement.

Of course its price fixing. There is no competition. I had a group of lawyers in Chicago looking at the idea of suing all of the oil companies under RICO a couple of years ago, but they decided not to file as they thought it would be one of those never-ending cases that would bleed the firm dry despite the fact that the plaintiffs would be legally correct. The whole case was based upon the very idea that you pointed out: it aint no coincidence that the prices all change at once.

If you know of a firm that would actually be willing to take something like this on, let me know. I think it could be won but it would take years and years and likely all of the plaintiffs would be dead before any money was seen and the lawsuit would be passed on through the family like some sort of heirloom. "Son, Grandpa left you a pocket knife, this fishing reel and the family's share in that lawsuit against the oil companies for fucking him out of half his salary".
