I've been a waitress for over 5 years now and when guys say something cheesy/trying to be funny it NEVER works. You may want to write this down...
If you want to get the girls number you have to make her think about you after her shift. You've obviously been in there before, and hopefully had at least one decent 3 minute convo with her. If she seems interested, give it a few days and go back in.. (best to go at the beginning of the restaurant's "rush" period, if you go at the end she'll just be trying to get out of there.) Point her out to the hostess and ask what the waitresses name is (even if you already know it.. makes you look curious, not like you've been daydreaming about her for a week) and ask to sit in her section. Hopefully she'll recognize you, and if not say something about how the wings/pizza/lasagne couldn't keep you away! Whatever you do, don't try and keep her there talking to you for more than 3-4 minutes. Even if you want to! Always say something like, "Oh I don't want to keep you from your other tables." Then, if you're getting good vibes from her, just say something along the lines of, "I'd love to talk to you more, you seem really sweet/funny/smart/etc. Would you mind giving me your phone number so we can meet up sometime?" If you truly sound genuine, chances are she'll give you her number. Or you could say something like, "What restaurant do you go to when you're not working? I'd love to treat you to dinner sometime."
