It's an awesome game. Just so you DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, here's some tips I learned firsthand:
1) Levelling from 1 to 10 is easy--just take as many quests as you can find.
2) If you feel you're going to get owned, don't hesitate to run. It's easier to come back, kill and get xp when you don't have to walk long distances because you died.
3) Join as many quest groups as you can. The more the better.
4) Levelling is fastest if you combine INSTANCES and questing. Don't waste time grinding unless the mobs you hit have a high chance of dropping magic items or other items you can sell at the Auction house (AH).
5) Try to do at least 2 instances a day. This really turbocharges your leveling.
6) ENJOY!
