Then you ask them if they have "xyz lens", doesn't matter what it is, just make up a name... They will say, "I'm not sure, let me check..."... this is when they go back get a catalog, go back to the storage area to see if they have it, or perhaps they go away to ask the manager...

By the time they return, you walk out the store, and are 2 blocks away with $2-$3k camera... If all fails, be prepared to run, the salesperson will probably not run after you, and by the time cops show up, you are nowhere to be found... just don't do it in the same store twice, or at least try not to run into same salesperson twice...
