The correct temperature depends on the type of beer. In the USA the most common type of beer is "lager", which is best served cold (around 40-45 degrees f). Traditional English beer is usually "ale" or "bitter", which is best served at a cool room temperature (around 55 - 60 degrees f). Some things to remember:
1. Most of the time here in England it's fucking cold, so our room temperatures are a little different to much of the USA.
2. Cold beer deadens the tastebuds on your tongue - that's why most American beer is best served as cold as possible, so you can't tell it's actually made from cats piss.
3. The most common Australian beer is the USA is Fosters. Most Australians wouldn't be caught dead drinking Fosters. In fact, given a choice between burning to death or having the flames extinguished by Fosters, Australians would lie back and try to enjoy the barbeque.
