Then you are truly living in a dream world and need to wake up to reality. There are far too many cultural, political and language differences for 10 years to be even close. The various European countires won't be 'getting together' much more than they are now (ie in certain central financial areas and the more important human rights related laws) for a VERY long time. To think otherwise is foolish at best.
For 99.9% of businesses and people .com or domestic domains (ie .co.uk, .fr etc) will remain the only relevant ones. The reality is very few organisiations target just Europe. They tend to be either national or global but not specific to Europe and that won't change anytime soon.
