Have you actually ready ANYTHING about that courtcase? The basis of the lawsuit was the temperature of the coffee. "Normally" hot coffee does NOT cause the types of burns that woman recieved. There is such a thing as protecting your customers from preventable injury. If I mop a floor and don't have a wet floor sign, I'm endangering my customers' safety. Do you think a company should be allowed to harm their customers? The coffee was MUCH hotter than is allowed in restaurants (there were
over 700 previous complaints previous to this one).
While I hate frivolous lawsuits as much as anyone (they've caused insurance companies to raise rates and made medical coverage more expensive, made medical costs more expensive and even caused other prices to be raised), I hate when this case is brought up because the case was anything but frivolous....especially for anyone who's bothered to actually read up on the details of the case.
