EXPERTS have bred a bald chicken that they reckon will be tastier and lower in fat than its feathered relatives. Adrian Bebb of Friends of the Earth added: "This is scientists tampering with our food again just to make it even cheaper. "I think it will have a traumatic effect on the animals and the public will be horrified." Spencer Fitzgibbon, from the Green Party, said: ?It?s a monster of an animal. We should be working with nature, not against it.
"The bottom line here is profit but it should be animal welfare." The red-skinned fowl is the creation of Israeli genetics expert Avigdor Cahaner.
He said it would grow faster in hot weather because it was not prone to over-heating like normal birds, whose growth rate drops when they get too warm.
