As for your quotes from Leviticus regarding hair cutting and working on the Sabbath day, some people still follow those rules (minus the death penalty), they are called Hassidic.
If by pointing those out you were somehow trying to prove that OT law is absurd, you are preaching to the converted.
You are the one trying to convince people that its ok to pick and choose what you want from your own Holy Book.
Go down to the local Rabbi and tell him that Moses was not putting forth the inspired word of God in Leviticus.
