First let me say how odd it was for you to bold the word, "effect" in your post. It smacks of pure, unadulterated retardation.
Maybe it seems "self-indulgent" because you have a tiny mind? Seems like the thicker the skull, the less is understood. How thick is your skull?
I know of millions and millions of humans that made that "implicit promise" yet did more damage being around the child then they would have, had they killed themselves.
Sometimes the simple mind needs to work things out so that everything fits and makes sense according to their simple-minded rules.
