i owned a domain once that was like
www.simpsonsonline.com the simpsons already had their own webpage but wanted to open a service for "simpsons" fans , the page i made was just made as a "fan" page and just had simpsons photo's on it, when they came online they bought the simpsonsonline.net , but they registered it AFTER i had already been using the .com version and logo's saying "simpsonsonline" , even though the name itself "simpsons" was trademarked , because i wasnt selling a competing product and because they registered the domain AFTER me they had to settle and make me an offer instead of taking me to court ( or they just decided the offer was less than the legal bill would have been ... )
p.s. this is just an example . it did happen but wasnt the simpsons..
