Hell no it's not a joke. 8 year olds are pure, concentrated evil and the only way to teach them a lesson is to threaten them with a gun. Think of every time you have seen an out of control child at the supermarket. You think they would act like that if someone would shove a gun in their little faces once in a while? Some think it's cruel but I call it good parenting.
