I always am a fan of the "it happens all the time, so why stop it now" excuse... but just because people get murdered all the time, doesn't mean we should just let the next guy get away with.
So what if it's a pick and choose policing... at least some of it is stopped. Rather than just letting one situation continue on and on endlessly with no end in sight, I for one don't mind it being put to an end. It's like a cd skipping... eventually you just want to throw the cd player out the window to make it stop.
