I figure amp is entitled to a bit of arrogance... imo... 95% of the industry follows his lead by telling their designers to "do something that looks like this".... but I also think that good design is only a part of the puzzle - brand, cover model, text, etc. all are important and not necessarily areas a designer has control over.

While I won't say who I think is hot - I will say that I judge a designer by their ability to interpret their client's style uniquely and not just slapping the same style on every product/site/etc. regardless of content.
