I had a friend who used to have a '68 Hemi Superbee. It had something like 625 ft/lbs of torque. He said he had to run it off of torpedo fuel that cost like $7/gallon
(or was it per pound?)
Anyway, he had old time slips showing it doing 10.8 quarters. Not exactly shabby for a street-legal car.
Amusing side note: I think he had to get rid of it for cheap as part of a divorce settlement and about 4 years ago, I saw one on the cover of Auto Trader (the exact same car, '68 Hemi Superbee) selling for $64,000.
