I know what I am talking about. If the US had not put 16 million people in uniform, had not the industrial might to supply the allies and had not the economy to sustain the war, had not spent the forty years or so supplying the funds and large military forces around the world and had not provided a nuclear umbrella over its NATO allies and parts of Asia during the cold war, all of Europe would be speaking German or Russian.
