To be clear, I'm not saying page rank is meaningless because you can fake it. I'm saying it's meaningless because it is unrelated to how much search traffic you receive, how frequently you are spidered, and just about everything else. Chasing page rank (and buying a link for the sake of page rank) is simply foolish.

I'd rather have a link from a Page Rank 2 that is Number one in Google for a term I am competing for than a link from a page rank 8 that is completely unrelated.

As to a page rank 6 getting spidered more - that's nonsense. The bots get into a habit of visiting your site based on frequency of updates.

But hey, wtf do I know about SEO - right? Go ahead and buy you're links based on page rank if you want.
