Any guy in his right mind will not go back to try to 'pick-up' a girl if she's told him no, unless he's being 'dared' by his friends or just looking for a fight. In both cases, his state of mind is not right therefore, best ignore him but be on alert.

jackie1 - it is not up to you to 'defend' him - however, it is up to you to demand respect for yourself and your space. If you are not interested, you ignore him - don't look his way and if he comes close and says something you ask him "which part of 'I'm not interested' didn't you understand?" The next move if you're still feeling uncomfortable is to pick-up your stuff and go to another place that does not have obnoxious people hitting on you. What your boyfriend is referring to is sending the wrong signals - however, not everyone understands the signals even if they are bright red lights and blaring 'DON'T BOTHER' on the speakers.
Baby - wanna be my girlfriend, just for shows? ;)
