We are going to be beta testing the new BYOA module for NATS on Teen Dolls this week and/or after the Phoenix show.
What is the BYOA module?
Build Your Own Anything. It is a NATS module which will allow programs to use ad tools designed by affiliates within the program and pay a comission to the designer when a signup is generated from one of these ad tools. This covers tours, hosted galleries, banners, hpas/fpas, etc. Just about anything you can think of. In a nutshell it is taking the BYOT model and extending it to all advertising materials.
What will Teen Dolls be testing?
We will be testing galleries first. We will allow anyone to create galleries. They will be hosted by us and put into the system and associated with the designer's affilaite ID. We are testing with galleries first as they are widely used and its an easier test bed than tours would be.
How much will I be paid?
This is still a bit up in the air but we are thinking of paying the designer $0.50 per join generated (trial, full, etc. not rebills) by galleries they design. I would like some feedback on this and no, you won't be getting $15 per sale for designing galleries.
How can I take part as a designer?
Create an account at
http://www.teendolls.com. In the content section you will find a large number of content sets for our sites Alyssa Doll and Emily Doll. You will also find the site logos in the content section. Create galleries to be used for BYOA and email them in a zip format to webmaster[]teendolls[]com along with your Teen Dolls affiliate name.
How can I take part as an affiiliate?
Affiliates will view these galleries as normal hosted galleries. We are planning on indicating the designer's name along with the gallery or stating "in house" or something similiar for those which are not BYOA galleries. We are also planning on allowing you to sort/search the galleries by designer so if you like one designer's style you may find more of their work.
Will BYOA interfere with my current NATS link codes?
No. You may have noticed some of your codes getting ,0,0,0,0 added to the end lately on some NATS programs. These are NATS v3 link codes and those extra variables are there for the tracking of the items related to BYOA such as the tour or gallery that the signup originated from. If they are not present they will simply be considered to be 0 and it will not effect anything.
I'm a NATS user, how can I get BYOA for my program?
Once we do some testing of BYOA we will be making it available to all programs. This will certainly be after the Phoenix Forum and most likely towards the end of April or early May. Myself, Charlie, Kim, and Steve will be at the Forum and we are co-sponsoring the Lightspeed After Hours parties each night so be sure to stop by and see us!
Please post any questions or feedback on this in this thread!
