Ah, it's the old 'if I point the finger at Christianity it will make Islam look magically better' argument is it. How unfortunate for you that type of argument does not work.

What makes Islam and Christianity different is that the Qur'an is the word of god but the Bible is not. Even the Vatican issued a statement last year saying that the Bible was not the word of god and shouldnt be viewed as such. So, Christianity is open to interpretation and change with the times but Islam is not, as the word of god cannot be changed or altered, it is eternal.

Therefore, if the Qur'an says to 'hate the unbelievers' then that is what must be done, for all time. It cannot be changed. Who are mere humans to change god's word?

This is why Muslims are able to commit acts of terror and genocide and use the Qur'an and Hadiths to justify it, but Christians are unable to do the same with the Bible. In any case, that pesky 'thous shalt not kill' rule always gets in the way.
