Happy Birthdate Kirk
Today is James Tiberius Kirk's birthday. Well, technically it is. You see, as any self-respecting Trekkie will tell you, the captain of the starship Enterprise is not due to be born for another 227 years.
But when the momentous event occurs, it'll be right here on Earth. Not some distant planet like Pluto, or even one featured in the original Star Trek series such as Excalbia or Organia. James T. Kirk will be born in the eastern Iowa community of Riverside in America.
In the future, he'll be the legendary captain captured by Greeks, Klingons, Romulans, Romans, Nazis, gangsters and even hippies(!); he'll prove irresistible to women of every colour and genetic make-up across the galaxy, and as he ages, his hair will mysteriously thicken. We salute Captain James T. Kirk and present some of his finest pearls of wisdom.
Star Trek James T. Kirk Quotes
Like Star Wars' rogue Corellian pirate Han Solo, Captain Kirk oozed charm, sex appeal and charisma. He knew how to handle his ship, his crew and his women. Debates may rage on between fanboys about which of the two was cooler, but we'll concentrate on Kirk for now.
So on his birthdate, get closer to the man with our selection of quotes. And by the way, Kirk never said "Beam me up Scotty," but that hasn't stopped the phrase from making its way into pop culture. The closest we come to the immortal line is in Star Trek IV where Kirk says, "Scotty, beam me up."
